Problem:
When trying to in stall SQL Server 2008, you get error:
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client -- Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file: D:\x64\setup\x64\SQLEC9C.tmp.msi
Thoughts:
You have installed Visual Studio 2010 RTM on the machine earlier.
Solution:
Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1 as pointer here (although error refers to different file) and re-run SQL Server installation. Remember to update SQL Server with the latest service pack after the installation.
